DLP Projectors:

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Total Cost of Ownership or TCO is perhaps a term you are familiar with. Many people discuss TCO as a critical consideration when purchasing electronic equipment. But how does it apply to a projector?

Projector maintenance and cleaning is periodically required to keep it working properly. Every time you touch a projector it costs you time and money. So it is very important to understand HOW OFTEN you will need to maintain your projector throughout its lifetime. Maintenance is a key variable in a projector’s TCO but other factors should also be considered such as reliability and efficiency.

DLP Projectors offer a Lower Total Cost of Ownership

  • Filter-free design

DLP technology enables a filter-free projector. Other technologies such as LCD require filters that must be cleaned (as often as every 200 to 300 hours of operation) and need to be replaced periodically. DLP projectors can save you money since no filter is required. This results in LESS required projector maintenance which ultimately saves costs.

  • No Colour Decay

Some LCD projectors may develop colour decay after extended periods of usage. Colour Decay is the yellowing or greening of a projector image. The result is a ruined projector that may be cheaper to replace than repair. DLP projectors are virtually immune to colour decay so you’ll have a reliable, consistent image even after years of regular use.

  • Lamp-free design

A few new DLP projector models now feature a lamp-free design. Using solid state illumination, there is no more lamp to replace. The cost savings are dramatic and the incredible picture quality is what you would expect from a DLP projector.

No projector is completely maintenance-free, but DLP projectors which feature a filter-free design offer lower maintenance costs which will save you time and money.
