IEEE names Dr. Hornbeck recipient of the 2004 IEEE Daniel E. Noble Award for his pioneering work on, and sustained development of, the Digital Micromirror Device (DMD), the chip at the heart of DLP technology.

November 2004

Small Times honors Dr. Hornbeck with its 2004 Best of Small Tech Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering and sustained technical contributions to DLP technology.

October 2003

DLP technology is selected by the National Television Academy to receive the Technology And Engineering Emmy® Award for "Pioneering Development of Mass-Produced Digital Reflective Imaging Technology for Consumer Rear Projection Television."

October 2002

Dr. Larry Hornbeck, inventor of the Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) that makes DLP technology possible, receives the David Sarnoff Medal from the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).

March 2002

Dr. Larry Hornbeck is elected SPIE (International Society for Optical Engineering) Fellow for 2002

October 2000

DLP technology receives the Technical and Scientific Achievement Award from the BKSTS (The British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society).

October 1999

DLP technology receives 'Golden Note' award from The Academy for Advancing High Performance Audio & Video. The award recognizes DLP® technology as 'The Most Innovative Video Technology'.

May 1999

Dr. Larry Hornbeck receives the prestigious Karl Ferdinand Braun Prize at The Society for Information Display's 1999 International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition.

June 1998

DLP technology receives Emmy award from The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Outstanding Achievement In Engineering Development.
