Laurentius Foundation DLP 3D Projectors Case Study

A group of primary schools in the Netherlands has taken part in the LiFE Project, a trial programme of Texas Instruments’ DLP 3D projector technology. The Laurentius Foundation has witnessed an improvement in pupils’ concentration and a change in how teachers conduct lessons.

User: The Laurentius Foundation is a group of 24 Catholic primary schools, with a total of 7500 pupils and 700 staff. Technology is a big priority for the Laurentius Foundation, with two full-time employees dedicated to providing training and support for ICT equipment across all of the schools.

Challenge: The school had previously realised that 3D was a rapidly developing technology and was interested in bringing it into the classroom.

Solution: The trial was overseen by Dr Anne Bamford, Professor of Educational Measurement at the University of the Arts, London and Lead Reasearcher within the LiFE Project. The Laurentius Foundation schools used 3D DLP projectors to display 3D content for lessons.

Result: Using the DLP 3D projectors, The Laurentius Foundation has seen marked improvements in pupil concentration levels and engagement in classroom discussions, but also teachers have themselves seen subtle differences in the way they plan and conduct their lessons.
